New Beginnings

I’ve had a blog in one form or another since I studied abroad in college in the summer of 2014. I’ve always planned on posting more consistently but life somehow finds a way to keep you away if you’re not incredibly diligent with pursuit of your hobbies or dreams (I haven’t been). However, recently, I’ve felt less and less contentment in my day to day career and thus I’ve been looking for ways to find more and more fulfillment in other areas of my life. One way is this here page because, well, I already am paying for it and basically no one is looking. I’ve got the freedom to post what I want, get better at writing and articulating my thoughts, and maybe one day I’ll look back on this and say, “look at her, trying her best!” Sounds cheesy, and it is.

I’ve been in and out of social media for a while now. I do and don’t miss it. While my first inclination is to say, “I should just post on Tik Tok, see where that goes” but I already know where it goes: a scrolling spiral I can’t get out of. So, I’m here. Using my resources to write aloud and document my days. Since this is technically a Charleston blog I’ll reference local happenings I’ve attended as I do them, I’m sure. But I also plan on sharing lessons learned, things I’m trying, and things I’m failing.

My promises to me (and you):

  • I won’t chat about work because it’s important to keep things separate where it makes sense.

  • I won’t get too personal about where I’m going before I go or share about the lives of my friends/family. I’ll probably talk about my cat, but she’s probably not going to read this.

If this were true 2014 blogging I’d have a witty tie in at the end but it’s 2026 and for now I’ll just say, see you soon.
