Project Pan December 2025

Oops, Black Friday strikes again. I (mostly) stuck to my wishlist and prioritized items that I’ve been watching for 30 days+, but coming home after being with family for Thanksgiving for seven days gave me a new set of eyes reviewing my space. I took stock into my cabinets and drawers, noticing how many duplicates I own that have been opened but not finished.

I’ve decided to do a no-buy (except for gifts, food, etc) for the month of December 2025 - and hopefully into 2026 - and I wanted to document my progress here with you all. While on this no-buy, I’m officially starting project pan!

If you’re unfamiliar with project pan, the goal is essentially to “hit pan” (the metal part of your powder makeup products) with your products. Finish them up, typically one by one intentionally, and shop your own drawer/closet before buying anything new in those categories.

Here’s what we’re starting with:

I can’t even tell if this is a lot, which probably tells you a lot.

It’s so “normal” nowadays to own so many duplicates that do almost the same thing (or are marketed that way).

One of my biggest contributors to this - especially related to perfume and body care, as well as pens - is gifting. Very lovely and well-meaning people in my life will probably get me some products in these categories for even this upcoming Christmas and that’s okay! I’ll just adjust accordingly. Another big contributor was buying a few “sets” and advent calendars last year from the Sephora sale. I’ve learned my lesson!

You’ll notice that I’m “missing” a few categories. That’s because for foundation, concealers, etc, I only use one. Body wash? Just one big one from Costco. For dry shampoo, I have two, but they’re different (not just marketing) and that’s also okay! I’ve added the categories to my project pan that take up the most space in my head.

I hope you’re excited to follow along! Do you have any tips/tricks for starting project pan? Let me know in the comments below!
