An Ode to Compression Socks

I’m sorry if you showed up here thinking you’d find someone who knew anything about science or the “why” behind compression socks! All I know is that I love them.

I’ve become a person who works out 4-5 days a week and at the beginning I found that while I didn’t particularly feel fatigue, my ankles and wrists were a bit more sensitive than I’d like. I was worried that I’d injured myself and took a step back - which I don’t regret - to then learn about the wonders of the compression sock.

I picked up a few different “strengths” and find that the basic, lightest pairs work for the day to day. I save the really heavy (strong?) ones for when I feel some tightness, or when the rest are in the wash. The heavier duty ones I’ve got are from Bombas and the rest were a multi-pack from Amazon.

Now I use them when working from home a few days a week, any time I get on a plane or do a road trip, and any time I’ve been upping my weights at the gym. They’ve given me the peace of mind that I’m reducing strain, increasing blood flow (there I go trying to be sciencey), and staying warm doing it.
