Lunch/Dinner in Downtown Charleston

If you were were to ask for recommendations for restaurants in Downtown Charleston, there are few places that I would say are “wrong” choices. However, if you wanted to explore a happy hour you can make a dinner, an elevated classics dinner, or a “just feed me, I don’t want to make decisions” dinner, here’s what I would recommend:

The Darling Oyster Bar - The “Happy Hour for Dinner” Dinner

Great $1 oyster happy hour! I’d also recommend blue crab dip - a perfect "happy hour for dinner" if you ask me.

I'd consider this more of "fresh seafood" vs fried seafood (both, of course, have their place and pick around Charleston) so keep that in mind when perusing.

Little Jack's Tavern - The “Elevated Basics” Dinner

Everyone is going to tell you that you need the double burger with truffle fries. While that’s my boyfriend’s go-to, I go for the single burger with normal fries (stealing one or two from my boyfriend’s truffle fry pile) and it’s just right.

I recommend sitting on the covered patio when the weather allows (most of the year). They’ve got great cocktails and a "surf-n-turf” burger on my radar.

Wild Common

Great for a celebratory dinner with a chef’s selection changing regularly. They went all out with a balloon and chocolates for my birthday, which was a sweet surprise.
